December 14-16

Merry Christmas!!  This week will be lots of fun in our Kinder Wing.  On Monday we will be making Christmas crafts.  On Tuesday, students will come to school in their pajamas.  We will have practice for our Christmas musical and our party.  On Wednesday, the musical is at 8:30 am.  Please be in the gym seated by 8:20.  Students need to wear their Sunday best for the performance.  We will have light refreshments in our wing after the musical.

Please remember that all days this week are half days.  We will dismiss at 11:30.

It is hard to believe that we are half way through the year already.  I hope that you and your families have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!!!

December 7- 11

Our unit for the week will be Christmas Around the World.  Each day we will "travel" to a different country to learn about how they celebrate during the holidays,  This will be a very exciting week since we will be traveling with our friends from K-4 and K-5.  Be sure to ask your child about the countries that we visit daily. 

On December 16th, we will be participating in the Christmas Musical.  This will take place in the gym at 830 am.  Students are asked to wear their Christmas best on this day.

November 16- 20

This week we will be learning about Native Americans and how they helped the Pilgrims.  We will continue talking about Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for.

We will also be working on our turkey costumes that we will wear to our feast.

The letter of the week is "S".

November 2- 6

First I would like to thank Clay and Calla Daley for allowing the Kindergarten wing to use their home for our Halloween party.  It was a fabulous day>  Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help and chaperoned.  We could not have had such a great day without your help.

This week will be another busy week for K-3.  We will be learning about Community Helpers.  We will continue to discuss fire safety and dialing 9-1-1 in am emergency.  On Friday we will travel to Sonshine Preschool for Community Helpers day.  This will be a fun day where we will get to see a firetruck, ambulance, and police car.  Our friends from Sonshine Preschool and Step of Faith will be joining us too.

On Tuesday, we will travel to the Savannah Wildlife Refuge for a field trip where we will learn about turkeys.  

Progress reports will come home on Wednesday, November 11th.

We will be having a Kinder wing Thanksgiving feast on Tuesday, November 24th.  More information will come home soon regarding this

October 26- 30

This week we will be learning about fire prevention and Halloween.  Our color for the week is black and our letter of the week is "Q".  Don't forget to send black items in by Wednesday for our poster.

Tomorrow the Ivy Garden Club is coming to paint pumpkins with us.  This is always a lot of fun for the students and Garden Club members!

On Thursday, we will have our Halloween party at Bryer's home.  There will be games, food, and fun!  We hope to see you there.

October 19th- 23rd

This week we will be learning about bugs!!! We are very excited for our bug hunt, and we look forward to making bugs out of many different types of materials.  Our letter for the week is "C".

We are nearing the end of our color posters.  Our color for the week is gray.  Please send in any gray items by Tuesday.

On Wednesday, we will attend a Fire Prevention program presented by the Ridgeland Fire Department.

Report cards will come home on Thursday, October 22nd.  Please make sure to sign these and return the next day.

Please remember that permission slips and money for our Halloween Party are due by Friday, October 23rd.  The date of the party is October 29th.

A few reminders:

  1. Make sure that your child has a snack daily
  2. Make sure that your child has a clean uniform set in their book bag (season appropriate)
  3. Please allow your child to come in to school with the help of the adults or students who are out front in the mornings.  This makes the transition much easier and gets our day started on a great note!
  4. Thank you for all that you have done so far this year.  I am so excited for what the remainder of the year has in store.

October 5-9

This week we will be talking about our families.  We will graph to see who has brothers and sisters, make a family tree, and share a favorite family memory with our friends.  Our letter of the week is "I" and our color of the week is pink.  Don't forget to send in your pink items for our poster!

Please make sure that you send in a clean tin can as soon as possible.  We will be using these for our family tree projects this week.

Student also need a clean 2-liter bottle for a Halloween project.

Permission slips for our Halloween Party have gone home.  Please return signed slip and money by Friday, October 23rd.

Lil' Rebel forms and money must be turned in by Friday, October 9th!

All book orders are due by October 16th.

September 28- October 2

This week we will be learning about Fall and Leaves.  We will go on a nature walk and make a fall collage.  We will also make leaf rubbings.  Our color of the week is orange.  Please send in orange items by Wednesday.  Our letter of the week is "T".

Remember that school pictures are Tuesday, September 29th!

Our Halloween Party will be on October 29th.  More information will come home soon regarding this!

September 14-18

For the next two weeks, our theme will be My Colorful World.  We will continue making our color posters this week. Our color for the week is purple.  Please turn in purple items by Tuesday.  Our letter of the week is"E".

We will read many books about colors and do some interesting projects that relate to the books.  On Tuesday, we will visit the Lower School Science lab with our K-4 friends to see some exciting experiments with colors.

Progress reports will go home on Wednesday, September 16th.  All students will receive a progress report. Please sign ans return to school the next day.  A copy will be sent home for your records.

All fundraiser orders and money must be turned in on Thursday, September 17th.

September 8-11

Wow!  It is hard to believe that September is here already.  We are off to a great start in our classroom and things will only get better from here.

Reminder that Monday is Labor Day.  I hope that you have a fun and safe holiday weekend.

Next week our unit is Fun with Food.  We will be making fun snacks with our K-4 and K-5 friends each day.  We will also use food items to paint and build with.  It should be an exciting week.

Our color of the week is yellow.  Please send in yellow items on Tuesday!

August 24-28

Our first week of school was great.  We had a wonderful time getting to know each other, and learning about our classroom.

This week, our unit is All About Me.  We will be talking about what makes us unique.  We will also talk about our families and some of our favorite things.  If you have not sent in your child's family picture or baby picture, please do so as quickly as possible.

There is a home football game on Friday.  Cheek cheers will be available for $.75.  An envelope marked "cheek cheer" will come home with your child on Thursday.  Please put money in that envelope if ordering.

August 17- 21

                        Welcome Back!!!!


Welcome to K-3!!  I am so excited to have your child in my class this year,  We will have fun meeting new friends and learning about many new things.

This week our theme is Back to School.  We will be learning about our classroom and how we treat it with respect.  We will be introduced to sharing, waiting our turns, and being kind to our friends.  We will talk about school safety including fire drills and a lock down drill.  In addition, we will talk about proper ways to use our crayons, glue, and scissors.

This is going to be a great school year.  I look forward to getting to know your child in the weeks to come!!

May 4-8



This week we will be working on a Sports theme.  We will talk about many different types of sports, the meaning of teamwork, and good sportsmanship, all while  working on gross motor skills.  On Tuesday, May 5th we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a burrito breakfast with our Mom's and a taco lunch with our Dad's.  Then on Thursday, May 7th we will students will be able to dress in their favorite sports attire.  (No helmets, cleats, balls, or accessories may be worn or brought in.)

April 7-10

I hope that everyone had a fun and relaxing Spring Break.  

We are starting a 3 week unit on animals.  This week will be learning about ocean animals.  We will get together with our K-4 and Kindergarten friends on Friday and find out what types of animals they learned about this week.  We will share our seahorses and fish with them also!  Friday is also our field trip to Mrs. Lancaster's home.  She has lots of animals that we will be able to observe and maybe even pet.

March 16-20th

Our unit for the week will be Pond Life.  We will be learning about frogs, lily pads, turtles, and fish. We will also be able to observe tadpoles in our Kindergarten wing.  Our letter of the week is "N".  

On Monday, permission slips and an informational letter concerning our Easter Party will come home.  These permission slips need to be returned by Thursday, March 26th.  

On Tuesday, we will celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  Students may wear a green shirt and jeans on this day for $1.00.  Don't forget to send in your green food to share with the class.  For example: one green apple to cut up and share or one small  bunch of grapes to share with the class.

Report cards will go home on Thursday, March 19th.  Attached to the report cards you will find important information regarding the Spring Gala.  Please fill out the Gala participation form and return to school with the signed report card.

March 9-13

We had a great week celebrating Dr. Seuss!! The students enjoyed dressing up for Wacky Wednesday and painting with their noses.

Next week our theme will be Spring is Here!  We will review the seasons.  We will also talk about flowers, butterflies, and rainbows.  Our letter of the week is "M".  We will count with M&M's, make mice, and use macaroni in our craft projects.

February 18-20

Welcome back from Winter Weekend.  I hope that you enjoyed your time with your families.

We start our "Down on the Farm" unit this week.  We will work on this unit next week as well.  We will talk about what types of animals live on a farm and what kinds of things we can find on.  We will end our unit with a Kindergarten Hoe Down.  (I am looking forward to this!!)

Our letter for the week is "K".  We will talk about kites, koalas, and kings.

Students may wear jeans tomorrow and Friday due to the low temperatures. Any type of thick outerwear may be worn as well.

January 26-30

Our letter of the week is "B".  We will make bumblebees, bunnies, and butterflies.  Our theme for the week is Wheels Go Around.  We will talk bout different modes of transportation and how we get from place to place.  On Friday we will have a bike-a-thon!  Each child can bring a bicycle or tricycle to school and we will have a fun day riding our bikes in the parking lot.  Each child MUST have a helmet! Please let me know if your child does not have a bike or tricycle so that I can plan accordingly.

Field trip to the Sandbox is Tuesday, January 27th.  Children must wear school uniforms, and we will have a pizza party after our trip.

In celebration of our 100th day of school, please help your child decorate a hat or shirt with 100 items.  We will wear these to school on Wednesday, January 28th.

January 19-23

This week we will be learning about Penguins and Polar Bears.  We will learn interesting facts about both animals, as well as some similarities and differences.

Our letter of the week is "D".  Ducks, dinosaurs, and doughnuts are just a few of the "D" words that we will talk  about.  As always, we will have fun using our letter of the week in some of our crafts.

No school on Monday, January 19th!  Enjoy your day off!

Field trip permission slips and money are due by Tuesday, January 20th!

Please remember to check your child's book bag for a weather appropriate changing of clothes!

In celebration of our 100th day of school, we are asking students to decorate a hat or shirt with 100 items.  We will wear these to school on Wednesday, January 28th!!  Have fun and be creative!!

January 12- 16

Welcome back!!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday break with your families.  I am happy to be back, and excited about the things that the new year offers!!  We are already on a roll in K-3.

Next week we will be talking about Animals in Winter.  We will learn about polar bears, seals, and walruses.  We will have a fun arts and crafts day with our K-4 and K-5 friends.

Our letter for the week is "J".  We will talk about many words that start with "J" like jellyfish, jam, jump, and jellybean!

Report cards will go home on Tuesday, January 13th.  Please remember to sign and return!

Reminder that our field trip date has been changed to January 27th.  Permission slips will go home next week!
