November 17-21

Last week was a great week learning about the Mayflower, the Pilgrims, and the letter "Q"!  WE made quesadillas on Thursday and they were delicious.

This week we will learning about Thanksgiving, the Indians, and the letter "G".  Grass, grapes, gumballs, and giraffes are all things that we will learn about for "G".  

We will begin working on our costumes for our Thanksgiving Celebration.  We will be the cutest little turkeys that you have ever seen!  

Reminders:

The date of the Christmas program has been changed to December 11th at 8:30 am.

Progress reports will go home on Thursday, November 20th.  This will be on an as needed basis.

Carolina/Clemson food drives is from 11/17- 11/21.

On Friday, November 21st, students may wear their favorite college t-shirt or sweatshirt with jeans.

November 10- 14

Our Community Helper field trip was a huge success last week.  We would to thank all who helped make this such a fun day!

This week we will start learning about Thanksgiving.  We will talk about Pilgrims and the Mayflower.  We will hear the story of the first Thanksgiving!

Our letter of the week is "Q".  We will make many fun crafts that begin with Q.  We will also make quesaddillas for lunch one day.

Please remember to turn in orders and payments for the family Thanksgiving dinner by Monday, November 17!

October 27- 31

We had a super week learning about the letter "U", pumpkins, and fire safety.  Our friends from Ridgeland Fire Department came and taught us about fire safety.  They let us get inside their truck and gave each of us a fire hat!  We also made a spooky Dracula jack-o-lantern and roasted the pumpkin seeds!

Next week we will be learning about the letter "C" and talking about friends.  We will talk about our best friends and how we should treat our friends.  We will make more fun Halloween crafts as well.

Don't forget that Friday, October 31st is our field trip to Turpin Park for our Halloween party.  Students may wear jeans and a fall colored t-shirt.  All students must bring a bagged lunch and a drink on the trip.

Also, THA will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween evening.  It will begin at 5:30 and end at 7:00.  There is a home football games that night and the Booster Club will be having their annual Silent Auction.  Please come enjoy the festivities and help support our school!

October 20- 24

This week will be filled with Fall Fun!!  We will be learning about pumpkins.  The Ivy Garden Club will be with us on Tuesday to help us paint pumpkins.  We will also carve a pumpkin with our K-4 and K-5 friends, and we will roast pumpkin seeds.

We will also learn about fire safety this week.  We will talk about dialing 911 and how to stop, drop, and roll.

On Friday, Students may wear a Jessie Team t-shirt if they have one.

Report cards will come home on Tuesday, October 21st!

October 13- 17

We had a great week learning about apples.  Our apple turnovers were yummy!  Thank you to all parents for helping make our turnover day such a success.

This week we will learn about families.  We will talk about our families, things we like to do with each other, and how all families are different. If you have not sent in your family picture, please do so as soon as possible.

Our letter of the week is "I".  We will talk about Indian corn, ice cream, and igloos.

On Friday, October 17th, students may wear a tye-dyed shirt and jeans to school.

Please remember that we are collecting Box Tops for Education.  You can send these in at any time.

October 6th-10th

This week we will be learning about apples.  We will do many exciting things with apples.  We will taste different types of apples and graph our favorite kind, we will make apple turnovers, and we will paint with apples.  We will also talk about the parts of an apple.

Out letter of the week is "T".  We will discuss words that start with "T" and make tiger, train, and tree crafts.

Mini cheer camp will be on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:45 to 3:45.  Please send a snack and a change of clothes.  Mini cheer participants will perform at the home football game on Friday night.

Halloween Party permission slips and money are due by Friday, October 10th!

September 22nd- 26th

Last week we learned about the letter "F"" and we started out Colors All Around theme!  We had a fun week talking about words that begin with "F" like frog, fish, and friends.  We also made a color poster for each color that we talked about last week.  These are hanging in our hallway for you to see!

This week we will be learning the letter "E".  We will also continue to work on our color theme.  This weeks colors are blue, red, green, and yellow.  On Friday, students will be able to wear their favorite color shirt to school.


Our class is collecting Box Tops for Education.  Please clip these whenever you see them and send them to school!!

Don't forget that Wednesday, September 24th is a half day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:30.

We have had a great week learning about the letter "L" and our personal information.  We made lion masks and ladybug footprints.  We will continue to work on learning our full names, birthdays, addresses, and phone numbers.

Next week we will begin a two week unit on colors, and we will introduce the letter "F".  Our colors for next week will be purple, orange, pink, and brown.  We will be making posters for each color.  Parents please send in any items that you can find in these colors.  We will use them to create a poster showing how many different things can be the same color.  We will also begin learning shapes.  Helping your child pick out shapes in the everyday world will help them as they become more familiar with each shape.


  • Thursday, September 18th is the only day that wrapping paper sales may be turned in. Please don't forget!!


  • Progress reports will go home on Thursday, September 18th.


  • Next Friday, students may wear a neon top with jeans or khakis. Friday is also Lil' Rebel day so please make sure you have your child in the gym at the appropriate time so that they can attend breakfast!

It is hard to believe that we are already in September!!  We have been having a great time learning about our body parts, our feelings, and our senses!  We did some fun things this week like guessing what sound we were listening to, matching different textures, and we even got to taste a lemon!  (And a few of the students liked it!!)

We are still working on learning our full names and birthdays!  Almost there, but we still need some practice.  Next week we will introduce our addresses and phone numbers.  We will also start introducing letters next week.  Our first letter will be L.  We will read many "L" books and enjoy creating many "L" crafts.

Please remember to wash and return blanket on Mondays! Also, please get out and sell wrapping paper to help our school!!

K-3 had a wonderful week learning all about themselves!  When you visit our classroom be sure to look at our life-size drawings in our hallway.  These are so special and let you know about many of our favorite things.

Next week we will be learning about our body parts and the five senses.  We will get to feel different textures, smell some new smells, hear interesting sounds, and taste a variety of things next week.  We will also begin learning our full names and birthdays.  Students can earn a sticker for their folder when these items are mastered.


  • Every Friday I will send home your child's blanket.  Please wash it and return on the next school day!
  • PTO Wrapping Paper Fundraising Packets went home yesterday.  Please help our school by participating in this fundraiser!  
  • School pictures have been changed to Wednesday, September 10th!
  • Chic-Fil-A orders and money is due by September 3rd!
  • Please make sure to read your September calendar that was emailed yesterday.  Many events are listed on it for you!
  • No school on Monday in observance of Labor Day!  Enjoy your long weekend.

K-3 is off to a great start!

 We are making new friends and learning our classroom rules.  

Next week (August 25th-29th) we will be doing an "All About Me" theme.  We will talk about our families, our bodies, and our feelings.  We will also be working on a special project that I know our parents will love!

A few reminders:
  • Make sure that your child has a complete change of clothes in their bookbag.  
  • Girls should wear shorts under their dresses or skirts.
  • Please send in 3-4 family pictures if you have not already done so.
  • Show and Tell will begin next week.  Our day is Thursday.
